KENNEL STORIES: THE TIMELESS NAME

With the guidance of my sister, Tracey William's of Fairview
Collies, we purchased our first show Collie in February
1989 from Don and Leslie Jeszewski of Highcroft Collies.
A beautiful rough sable male out of "Challenger,"
Ch. Highcroft Double Dare and the great "Quintessence,"
Ch. Highcroft Quintessence, ROM.
Ch. Highcroft Timeless Courage

We now had to have a kennel name. Coincidentally, the
space shuttle of the same name as our first dog's sire,
Challenger, was about to make its mark in history.
We had tuned in to watch the space shuttle take off in
hopes of ideas for a kennel name. We sat in tears as the
space shuttle lifted off, then exploded in mid air. We
were devastated! Later the same evening a news broadcast
aired a memorial to those who had lost their lives on
the space shuttle. They played, "One Moment in Time"
and spoke of the courage of those who had lost their lives.
We again were moved to tears.
When we think
of all the wonderful memories, the joy and love Korey
and those who have followed him have brought to us we
know why we love the breed.
The song, "One Moment in Time" became an inspiration.
We just seemed to identify with that song what we wanted
our dogs to be and how we felt about the breed. The name
Timeless has always just seemed right. The next time you
hear "One Moment in Time," if you really listen
to the words, it applies to all of us who have been there
and had those magical moments with our Collies.
Our first show Collie's call name was Korey. His registered
name,
Ch. Highcroft Timeless Courage, was a tribute to those
on the space shuttle, Challenger.
Korey passed away at the age of ten. To this day when
I hear the song, I get goose bumps and I still cry and
then smile. I can still see him, his smiling face as we
floated around the ring in the Veterans class at the CCA
(National Specialty) in Reno.
When we think of all the wonderful memories, the joy
and love Korey and those who have followed him have brought
to us we know why we love the breed.
