Photos and article by Jackie Caruso, CCA CT DD

Thanks to the dedicated members of Tri County Collie Breeders Association (TCCBA) and Hartford- Springfield Collie Club (HSCC) who mobilized quickly to respond to the request from AKC to bring Collies to the Meet the Breeds 2010 at the Javits Center in New York City on October 16 and 17. The Collie was very well represented and showcased at this event.

Breed Table

The breed was represented by TCCBA members Jackie Caruso, Pat Holmes and Elvys Maldonado with CH Devinwood Ramble On "Gaby" and HSCC members Judy Virchow and Helen Campbell with CH Tisbury's Love You Like the Devil "Miley" and CH Provenhill Tisbury Sambouca "Lindsey".

The dogs had a wonderful day meeting and greeting people and making friends all day.
The AKC did a spectacular job of showcasing the breeds and making sure that the clubs had representatives there to educate the public. The Cat Fancier Association of America was also in attendance and there was a beautiful display of cats. There were vendors and demonstrations and the event was first class all the way.

The collie, as always, was one of the most popular booths to visit. Gaby , Miley and Lindsey were wonderful ambassadors for the collie and we gave out hundreds of copies of "The Collie as a Family Pet" from the CCA website which is a wonderful description of our breed and all aspects of living with our breed. We all answered questions all day long and many people came away with a genuine interest and respect for our breed because there is no better way to learn about our breed than interacting with a collie.

"Miley" was a great ambassador for the collie
at the booth.

We will be there next year to showcase our wonderful breed and will coordinate with the clubs in the area to make sure we have representation for our breed. In these days of anti dog legislation and sentiment, it is important for all dog fanciers to give back to the breed and the sport. It was a great day and an event that all cat and dog fanciers should attend.

Our thanks again to the members who attended and shared their dogs and showed the public what a wonderful breed the collie is!

The Collie presents an impressive, proud picture of true balance, each part being in harmonious proportion to every other part and to the whole.

Breeders Directory Listing
There are two ways to advertise on Collies Online. Breeders can advertise their kennel by purchasing a Breeders Directory Listing for $75 and updating their litter news throughout the year. The listings are organized by state and have proven very affective for breeders all over the country.

Display Advertising including preferred position
The second way to advertise is by purchasing display ad space in our advertising tunnel. The lead ad in the tunnel is by reservation only and costs $100. The second, third and fourth position are also preferred positions and cost $75. Ads in the fifth position and beyond cost $50.

Pay with PayPal, check or credit card
We accept payments by check, payable to "Collies Online" or online through PayPal. If you want to pay with your credit card you don't need a PayPal account but you can still use the PayPal application.

Publishing schedule and advertising copy
Display ads are published on Saturday and appear in the ad tunnel for a week, on the contents page for a month and then in the ad archive for a year.

By sending us a photo and ad copy either via e-mail or snail mail, we can design an attractive ad for you or you can submit your ad finished.

Contact us by e-mail at for lead-page availability or specs if you are designing your own ad.
