The Collie Club of America wrapped
up its elections last month and will
announce at its annual meeting at
the National Specialty in California
in March that Bob Myers of Thomasboro,
Illinois will be the new president for
a 2-year term. Les Canavan (First
Vice President), Pati Merrill (Second
Vice President), Jane Clymer (Secretary),
Mike Esch (Treasurer) and John Buddie
(Director at Large) all return for
another term in their respective positions.

for 2009. For the second year in a
row, the #1 Rough Collie is CH

Foundation partners with Morris
Animal Foundation
Morris Animal Foundation
announced on Monday its
new partnership with the
Collie Health Foundation
to address significant health
issues in the breed. Both foundations
hope to identify preventions
and treatments for health issues
such as bloat, seizures, autoimmune
skin disorders and lymphoma.
The CHF is particularly interested
in finding treatments and preventives
for bloat. The groups will provide
funding for up to two years
in duration and up to $50,000
per year. MAF is the world’s
largest nonprofit foundation
dedicated to funding research
studies to protect, treat and
cure animals.
“We are delighted
to expand the outreach of the
Collie Health Foundation via Morris
Animal Foundation’s
vast network of research resources,” said
Nancy McDonald, president of
the Collie Health Foundation. “We
eagerly anticipate the variety
of opportunities forthcoming
to improve the health of our collies
and all canines.”

generous gift from the Collie
Health Foundation will allow
Morris Animal Foundation to fund up
to two studies targeting health issues
for collies," said

The CCA versatility awards program is designed to recognize Collies which have distinguished themselves in both the breed ring and in AKC recognized performance events. These dogs possess the conformation, temperament, intelligence, and herding and working capabilities which represent the essential characteristics of the breed. The versatility awards are based on a point system which is used to weight each title based on its difficulty. November 10, 2009 Pacific Northwest Collie Club (Nov. 7 and 8, 2009)
The Pacific Northwest Collie Club held back-to-back specialties this past weekend in Rickreall, Oregon. On Saturday, Judge Barbara Schwartz awarded CH Barksdale Twin City Da Vinci Best of Breed. This rough bitch is by CH Barksdale Lochlaren Liaison ROM, out of CH Twin City In Living Color. She was bred by Nancy McDonald and Carl Williford and is owned by Nancy McDonald. On Sunday, Judge Pat Putman awarded the rough class dog, Tallywood Resonance Best in Specialty. He is bred and owned by Nancy Anstruther and Robert Findley.
