April 28, 2013 In loving memory
The collie world lost three of its long-time supporters: Florence Beck of Islip, New York, Rosemary Roberts of Hanson, Mass., and Candy Wisnieski of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, passed away last week.
Florence bred and exhibited under the Rodel moniker. She was a collie judge, a former Tri-County Collie Breeders Association member and a member of the Collie Club of America and the Collie Club of Long Island.
She was often accompanied at the shows by her daughter Bernadette. Send a note of condolence and support on the passing of her mother to:
Bernadette Beck
517 Commack Road
Islip, NY 11751
Rosemary Roberts was a member of the Collie Club of New England. She was ever present at the Connecticut Specialties for as long as anyone can remember. Rosemary was always generous with a compliment and a kind smile. She truly loved the collie.
Sent from Jackie Caruso (Collie Club of America District Director, Connecticut)
It is with great sadness that I tell you that the collie has lost another great friend this week, Candy Wisnieski (Collie Club of America/Collie Club of Northern New Jersey).
I was honored to call Candy a friend. I cannot imagine how heartbroken her family must be. I know we who knew her, are. The collies have lost one of their biggest cheerleaders. She was intelligent, passionate and kind, and so encouraging to many.
Many do not know, but Candy was the author of the "Collie as a Family Dog" that is on the Collie Club of America website. When you read this you can feel her passion for this breed and know the research that went into this well-written piece about living with the collie. This has been hailed by the American Kennel Club as one of the finest portrayals of a breed done by any parent club. We have Candy to thank for that. I will miss her observations on the dogs and the shows. She was a driving force behind the Collie Club of Northern New Jersey. My husband worked with her every month on the CCNNJ newsletter. She was a perfectionist. She made all of us want to do our best. She was proud of every collie and their accomplishments. We will miss her.
Notes of condolence can be sent to:
